Characterised by its open floral drawing and quiet sense of balance, this contemporary Afghan runner reinterprets the Ziegler design vocabulary through an elongated format. Large-scale floral forms and restrained colouring giving the traditional design a particularly soft and understated character, particularly suited to contemporary and neutral interiors.
Large palmettes, blossoms and scrolling vines are arranged symmetrically along a central axis, creating a composition that develops naturally along the length of the runner.
The motifs are generously scaled but surrounded by open space, allowing each form to remain distinct rather than creating a densely patterned surface.
A cream floral border frames the central field, while the near-symmetrical arrangement gives the composition a balanced rhythm from either direction.
The palette is restrained, pairing a muted blue-grey field with warm cream and oatmeal motifs. The resulting contrast between cool and warm tones allows the floral drawing to remain clearly defined without becoming visually dominant.
Visible abrash, the subtle tonal variation that occurs across the field, moves between slate grey, soft denim blue and cooler silver-grey, giving the ground depth movement and a gentle ethereal appearance.
